The operating temperature of the engine will continuously adjust with changes in environmental conditions and operating conditions. Therefore, there is a need for a mechanism that can adjust the engine cooling intensity at any time. The silicone oil fan clutch can adjust the fan speed according to the temperature changes of the engine. In high-temperature environments, such as driving in summer, when the engine is operating at low speed but with high load, the coolant temperature increases, and the fan needs to rotate at high speed to increase heat dissipation. However, in the cold winter, when the coolant temperature is low, the continued operation of the fan becomes unnecessary because it not only wastes engine power but also generates unnecessary noise.
In many northern regions, the number of days with winter temperatures below 10 degrees Celsius exceeds 100, which means that the engine cooling fan is mostly useless, not only wasting fuel but also increasing the burden on the engine. This is precisely why we cannot simply lock the clutch.
